- The man most directly responsible for this twaddle was Andy Gibson, who did
- thus comment on Re: GUI Ext on the night of 01-Oct-97:
-
- -> I was mighty impressed with the speed of those demos ya sent me too
- -> m8. Who would have thought it possible with Amos? The GUI Ext does
- -> seem to be far more powerful than I first thought.
-
- I am actually working on a larger, full GUI extension demo, which will cover
- all
- of its various powers. Because of the way Petro wrote it, it is as fast as it
- possibly can go.
-
- -> I downloaded it and now have it slotted in. BTW I also downloaded the
- -> GUI Compiler, but I'm having serious problems with it!
-
- The GUI compiler should be in the same archive. You will need to run the
- GUIPatch.AMOS program, which copies your system files and makes a patched
- version of the APCmp compiler routine.
-
- -> I have it set up in my Amos Pro pull down menu, but when I access it,
- -> it obviously throws me back to WB, but I thought the listing in my
- -> interpreter would have been already set up to be compiled!
-
- -> But no! I have to manually type in the filename I want to compile.
- -> This is where the real problem occurs. When I click on the LOAD
- -> button, I get the good old Software Failure - Suspend/Reboot option!
-
- -> It works fine if I manually type in the filename, but not if I click
- -> on the LOAD button. Does anyone have this problem too?
-
- Hmm, ive never had this problem. Try to compile the GUI Compiler as an
- executable, and run it that way. You will need to direct it to the GUICmp
- program before you can use it. If that still has problems, I suggest you get a
- newer version of the ASL.library routines.
-
- -> And can I use the GUI Compiler for normal Amos proggy compiling or is
- -> it just for GUI applications?
-
- I think it can be used for normal AMOS programs, but unless they have valuable
- GUI commands inside them, I wouldnt reccomend it.
